01a_upper_virgin_river.jpg In Zion National Park, morning seems to creep up and over the canyon's rim. Beside Watchman campground, the Virgin River's North Fork runs fast and clear on this morning. Zion Canyon has been carved and shaped over the eons by water and the Virgin River. The more dramatic effects the river has on the landscape can be seen a little ways up the Canyon at the still raw wound of the April 1995 landslide. In this picture you can see a small beach area near the campground and Zion Canyon's upper rock layers. Those white peaks in the background are from the Carmel and Temple Cap formations.
