This picture was taken on a Tuesday morning after many of the weekend campers departed. The camping season starts early in this part of the southwest. In mid-May the temperatures are comfortable and the views fabulous all the way around. The mountain behind us is called West Temple and it, along with Watchman, marks the beginning of beautiful Zion Canyon. A word of advice - beware of weekends. We made the dumb error of arriving on a Friday and found ourselves in the possible bad situation of having no camp sites available. But, as is the case at most public land campgrounds, the folks there bent over backwards to find us a site. |
