Rose Canyon Campground is a series of loops meandering down a little mountain valley. A wildfire, several years ago, did burn some of the campground's trees. With their removal the campground has more sunlight and a "rougher" appearance. Some camp sites have stone terracing as seen here and many have "bear boxes." Although not a frequent occurrence, there have been occasional black bear sightings on Mt. Lemmon. Proper use of the "bear boxes" and safe food storage techniques have helped keep incidents to a minimum.
