Watson Falls plunges an amazing 272 feet over a towering wall of basalt rock. It is one of the tallest waterfalls in southwest Oregon. An observation area, where this photo was taken, is cooled by windy mist produced by the water's journey from its towering heights. Note the "waves" in the falling water. This is caused by the drops of water not being able to hold together all the way down. In the Spring, when Watson Creek is full of rain and snow melt, these "waves" are not as apparent. |
