Here we are, back down in a canyon's dry wash. Walking in the wash, under a threatening sky, was unnerving. Warnings of flash flood danger kept my feet moving quickly until this welcome trail marker appeared showing the trail's climb out of the gravel bed. Here the trail isn't too steep but it steadily leads upward to a series of hogback ridges. One of these hogbacks has railroad ties as steps, embedded in loose soil, to provided secure foot holds. My advice -- don't look down and don't think about the drop-off! Honestly, this is not the best trail for families with young children or scaredy-cat Grandmas. |
