11cliff-roses.jpg These delicate fragrant creamy white flowers covered several 6 to 8 foot shaggy bushes growing along the edge of Timp Point. The trunks were 4 to 8 inches in diameter and had reddish brown bark. We were told Navajo Indians used the bark for cradle lining because it is very absorbent and didn't cause "diaper" rash. Plumed seeds, 5 to 10 per flower, appear after the flower has faded. These seeds are so delicate that with even the slightest breeze they wave to and fro like the plume on a French musketeer's hat.
