Continue straight another 8.7 miles to campground sign. Turn

GENERAL COMMENTS:
The elevation is 10,600 ft.
The campground stretches out along a mountainside, along Fourmile
Creek, among spruce, Bristlecone and Limber pine and Aspen.
Since the campground is very rocky, finding a comfortable spot to
pitch a tent could be a challenge. The campground is located
near Horseshoe Mt. with its text book example of a glacial
cirque. County Rt. 18 is the Horseshoe/Fourmile Historic Auto
Tour. Pick up interpretive brochure from the South Park Ranger
District Office in Fairplay.
The nearby Limber Grove Trail winds through a stand of mixed
conifers up a mountainside then across a barren talus field to a
secluded grove of 1,000 year old (plus) Limber pine. Vistas
along the way are delightful, but the sight of those "old ones"
with their huge, twisted trunks and branches is awesome.

Continue straight another 5.8 miles to campground sign. Turn

GENERAL COMMENTS:
The elevation is 10,600 ft.
The campground, off a grass meadow, is a single loop among
heavily wooded Aspen, Bristlecone pines and Engelmann spruce.
There is good privacy between sites. The campground is near the
town site of Homestead of which little remains. County Rt. 18 is
the Horseshoe/Fourmile Historic Auto Tour. Pick up interpretive
brochure from the South Park Ranger District Office in Fairplay.
