Another carnivorous plant growing in the marsh along the Kelso Lake canal. This one is called Sundew and, with at least 188 different plants, is a member of the largest group of carnivorous plants. The plant lures, captures, and digests insects using stalked mucilaginous (mucus) glands covering their leaf surface. Like other carnivorous plants, the insects are used to supplement the poor mineral nutrition that Sundews cannot obtain from the soil in which they grow. | |
