GENERAL COMMENTS:
The elevation is 620 ft.
Near the northwest tip of Burr Oak Reservoir, this small, rustic
campground offers a tranquil setting in a heavily wooded area of
mixed hardwoods. There is no direct access to the reservoir from
the campground but Lake View Trail provides a means to view the
Lake. The campground is convenient to a portion of the North
Country Scenic Trail which is co-located on the Buckeye Trail
which meanders around Ohio. Because the campground is so close
to these two trails, it is often used by through-hikers. Some
tent sites are walk-in and offer a secluded and private camping
experience.

GENERAL COMMENTS:
The elevation is 800 ft.
One of two campgrounds in the Vesuvius Recreation Area, it is located
on the east shore of Lake Vesuvius and stretches along a heavily wooded
ridge ending in a loop. Of the two campgrounds this one is more heavily
wooded, providing ample shade and privacy. Walk-in tent only areas offer
secluded camping. Campsites along the interior road offer electric hookups
and can accommodate both recreational vehicles and tent campers at the
same time. Boating, fishing, and swimming at the lake attract many
visitors to the campground. More then forty-five miles of horse and foot
trails provide a good way to explore the area.

NEAREST CITY/TOWN: Newport
RESERVATIONS: 1-877-444-6777 or make on-line reservation
DIRECTIONS:
From Newport, OH, take State Rt. 7 north 5.9 miles to campground.
GENERAL COMMENTS:
The elevation is 320 ft.
The campground is a single loop on the north bank of the Ohio
River. A few sites have direct access but most only have a view
of the river. A playground, volleyball court, horseshoe pits,
boat ramp and fishing pier along with electric hook-ups at each
site, flush toilets, hot showers, a separate walk-in tent sites,
and dump station, make this a nice family-oriented campground.
Nearby wildlife viewing areas, the Covered Bridge Scenic Byway
Auto Tour, and canoeing the Little Muskingum River are all nice
day trips from this campground.
Note: The campground is so close to the Ohio River, that in some
years the winter thaw may delay the opening.

GENERAL COMMENTS:
The elevation is 1000 ft.
One of two campgrounds in the Lake Vesuvius Recreation Area, is located
on the west shore of Lake Vesuvius, on the top of a hill. The campground
has three loops (Scarlet Oak, White Oak and Pine Knot) and an overflow area
(Post Oak). The campground's interior road has a tear-drop configuration
that could make taking a second pass through the campground a challenge for
large motor homes. While the campground is surrounded by mixed hardwoods
including large, mature oak, most campsites are surrounded by groomed grass
and isolated shade trees. This provides little shade and separation and
minimal privacy. Many of the campsites have lantern poles. Boating,
fishing and swimming at Lake Vesuvius attract many visitors to the campground.
NOTE (1): The electric system is old and can't manage multiple devices at
same time. Read the fee board for more information.
