11lavastacks.jpg Back when still the active volcano we call Mount Mazama, lava squeezed up through cracks, slits, and holes in the caldera's inside wall. These "lava stacks" illustrate lava comes in many shapes. It is thought this lava was forced through small openings, much like toothpaste from its tube, and cooled in these chimney-like shape.
