In Collbran, CO, at "Access Grand Mesa" sign, take 58 « Rd. south
1.9 miles to "T" intersection.  Turn left, staying on 58 « Rd.
(which becomes 59 Rd.), and go 5.8 miles to Forest Rt. 521. 
Continue straight on Rt. 521 (gravel) and go 6.6 miles to
campground sign.  Turn right at sign and go 0.4 miles to
campground

GENERAL COMMENTS:
The elevation is 10,000 ft.

The campground is located next to Big Creek Reservoir with some
sites overlooking the reservoir.  Englemann spruce provide shade
for most of the sites while others are located in wild flower-
studded open meadow areas.

This is bear country; practice safe food storage techniques.  The
mosquitos are plentiful; bring repellent.

Turn left at sign into campground. GENERAL COMMENTS: The elevation is 10,300 ft. The campground is located along the shore of Cobbett Lake with sites nestled in thick grove of spruce trees. The campground is convenient to several of the Grand Mesa's 500 lakes, a Forest Service Visitor Center and the Gag Crest trailhead. This is bear country; practice safe food storage techniques. This is also mosquito country; bring lots of repellent. GENERAL COMMENTS: The elevation is 10,100 ft. The campground is located above Eggleston Lake on a mountainside thick with Spruce trees. A few sites overlook the lake. Sites 5 and 6 are tent only - no turn around. This is bear country; practice safe food storage techniques. The mosquitos are plentiful; bring repellent. Turn left at sign onto Rt. 116 (gravel) and go 1.4 miles to campground sign. Turn left at sign into campground. GENERAL COMMENTS: The elevation is 10,300 ft. This campground is one of the few in Grand Mesa National Forest not located on a lake. Most of the sites are nestled in a thick grove of mature spruce. A few sites have a panoramic vista of the Grand Valley and several of the lakes below. The 144-acre Island Lake is located 0.1 miles east of the campground on Forest Rt. 116. Firewood is available for a fee. This is bear country; practice safe food storage techniques. Mosquitos are plentiful; bring lots of repellent. Turn right into campground. GENERAL COMMENTS: The elevation is 9,800 ft. The campground is located between Jumbo and Sunset Lakes among mature spruce and Aspen trees. The hilly terrain provides privacy for closely spaced sites and a challenge to drivers. Most sites have views of the lakes and are within easy walking distance. The nearby Mesa Lakes Ranger Station was built by the Civilian Conservation Corps in 1941 and provides information to campers. There are lodges close by that provide for a cook's night out. This is bear country; practice safe food storage techniques. The mosquitos are plentiful; bring repellent. Turn left at sign onto Rt. 116 (gravel) and go 0.8 miles to another campground sign. Turn right just before sign into campground. GENERAL COMMENTS: The elevation is 10,200 ft. The campground is composed of two loops along the shore of Island Lake with some sites along the shore of the lake. It is heavily wooded with spruce trees. There is a wheelchair friendly area with a fish cleaning station adjacent to the Island Lake Boat Ramp. The campground is convenient to several of the Mesa's 500 lakes, the visitor center and Crag Crest Trailhead. This is bear country; practice safe food storage techniques. Firewood is available for a fee and bring plenty of mosquito repellent. Turn right at sign into campground. GENERAL COMMENTS: The elevation is 9,900 ft. The campground is a large loop in a thick grove of spruce trees. Most sites are pull-throughs that can accommodate large RVs. A convenient day trip is to Lands End Observatory, south of campground on Forest Rt. 100. A nearby lodge offers a cook's night out. This is bear country; practice safe food storage techniques. Mosquitos are plentiful; bring repellent. Turn right onto Rt. 121 and go 0.5 miles to campground sign. Turn right at sign into campground. GENERAL COMMENTS: The elevation is 10,200 ft. The campground meanders along the shores of Ward Lake among spruce trees. Some campsites are on the shore while others overlook the lake. Still others are tucked back and away from the Lake. Shoreline sites are mostly open and on an unmarked spur while remaining sites are shaded and more secluded. The campground is convenient to several of Grand Mesa's 500 lakes. Firewood is available for a fee. This is bear country; practice safe food storage techniques. This is also mosquito country; bring lots of repellent.
