Use Your RV’s Freezer
In my opinion, one of the greatest advantages of camping in a recreational vehicle is its freezer. Here are somethings you can put away in cold storage:
- Milk – freeze in smaller containers that fit nicely into your freeze. Give yourself at least 24 hours to defrost in refrigerator. Given with the two of us, there are times when we can’t finish even a half-gallon before it goes bad so freezing is a great alternative for us.
- Eggs – Separate yolks and white and freeze in separate ice trays. Once frozen pop into a zip top freezer bag. Freeze the white untreated but mix yolk with a bit of salt.
- Cream Cheese – Freeze in the package inside a plastic bag. After it thaws, blend to make smooth and spreadable.
- Cheese – Most cheeses freeze better when grated or shredded. You can grate or shred directly into a zip-top freezer bag.
- Nuts – Keep them from going rancid, always store in freezer.
FYI: The back, left hand corner of an RV freezer tends to be the coldest area.
