Suzi’s Blog
The U.S. National Forest Campgrounds Guide website, www.forestcamping.com, is a wealth of information about developed campgrounds in all 176 national forests and grasslands across the country. It is basically an encyclopedia, straight forward and impersonal. Suzi’s Blog adds a little personal touch to the ForestCamping.com website with postings about our experiences, adventures, and discoveries along with other postings related to camping, national forests and grasslands, and family fund.
I am Suzi Dow and I hope you will find something interesting, something helpful, something informative, but mostly something that will help you get out and discover our national forests and grasslands.
Big dog or Little dog – Which is best suited to live in an RV?
Ralf loves riding in the RV but isn’t an enthusiastic out-of-doors pup. His fur seems to attract every weed seed in the area, which means brushing. Another activity he isn’t fond of. Dani love the outdoors but can do without the drive. Traveling upsets her tummy and seems to mess with her digestive system. Ralf Read More >>
Thanksgiving and RVing can work
I remember our first Thanksgiving as full-time RVers. It was a little exciting and very scary. It wasn’t their first rodeo. I, on the other hand, was Read More >>
Treat your feet well and they’ll take you far!
My dad was in the Army. My childhood seemed to be divide by the wonder of him being home and waiting for him to return. No Problem Biscuits
It had been a very long, cold and damp day. Fred started setting up our rig in a downpour while I heated a pot of beef stew for dinner. The beefy aroma filled the trailer with images of drier times. “Hmmm, something smells goods,” Fred said as he entered the cheery warmth of our travel Read More >>

Solitude – A precious thing
Anyone who has read some of my “stuff” might conclude my favorite campground or forest feature is solitude. They would be correct. I look for and enjoy solitude when and where I can find it. Time saving tips for potatoes
Fred is a meat and potato kind-ah guy. One of the first things a cook learns when camping, particularly when camp is a mile or more high, is it takes longer for things to cook. This is true for potatoes. For a long time I just could not get the two done at the same Read More >>
