Rivers of pumice ash from Mt. Mazama eruptions followed down both the Upper North Umpqua River and, as seen here, the Rogue River valleys. The total accumulation is some 400 feet in places such as here -- Highway 230 between the Rabbit Ears formation and Farewell Bend campground. Pumice ash from Mt. Mazama's eruptions are scattered over eight states and three Canadian provinces.
