Everyone talks about Union Creek's Beckie's Cafe and its homemade pies, family-style dining, and moderately priced menu. To be honest, I found the rich wood interior to be the most impressive feature of this little roadside Cafe. Built more than 70 years ago, even before the CCC established their camp nearby, Beckie's Cafe has served millions, including regular folks, like you and me, to famous people such as Zane Grey, Jack London, and Herbert Hoover. (By the way, Beckie was a man.)
