The best part of the Education Center's wildlife display is you can see animals you probably would not observe otherwise. Here is a Fisher, more weasel than dog. It is found ony in the northern parts of North America. Their average weight is 11 pounds with a head and body of 25 inches and tail 17 inches in length. When upset, Fishers makes loud growls and hissing coughs. By the way, Fishers don't fish; their name is derived from an old European word for "polecat." |
