From Dante's View, Badwater is down there and across the valley is Panamint Range with Telescope and Sentinel Peaks. From here the dry desert air lets you see most of the 110-mile-long Death Valley. The steep elongated mountain ranges, alternating with the flat dry desert valley, is striking and clearly seen. This is a visual illustration of the dynamic forces stretching the earth's crusts along north-south faults. It is thought the valley is filled with more than 5,000-feet of alternating salt and mud layers.
