The Park has a number of sand dune locations but Mesquite Falt Dunes is the most accessible. Located near Stovepipe Wells, these dunes cover a huge area and can be as tall as 100-feet. This shot was taken from the pull-out on State Rt 190 but there is a trail leading into the dunes for an up-close-and-personal look. These dunes got there name for the mesquite trees scattered around and forming large hummocks. This is were one might see some wildlife. Note: Dogs are not permitted on this or any trails in National Parks :-(. |
