01exiting_frm_father_crowley_point.jpg Approaching Death Valley National Park from the west on State Route 190, Father Crowley Point is a visitor's first opportunity to look at the western part of the Park and get a sense of how empty, barren, and beautiful, in a surreal way, Death Valley is. This is also a good place to stop and stretch your legs before making the long climb over Panamint Mountains. I can remember, as a child, driving across desert land with a bag of radiator water hanging off our car's hood ornament. Since hood ornaments and radiator bags are things of the past, the Park provides tanks of radiator water at strategic locations, like Father Crowley Point.
