There are several Indian legends explaining the origin of Crater Lake. One has the spirit god of the sky battling with the spirit god of the depths for the love of a beautiful maiden. These two spirit gods are represented by Llano rock and Skell Head, located on opposite sides of Crater Lake's towering rim.
