cowboy_dinner_tree1.jpg At the wide spot on State Route 31 is the community of Silver Lake, Oregon. At one end of town is a small homemade sign telling folks to "turn here" for the Cowboy Dinner Tree Steakhouse. It is another 5 or 6 miles to this very special and unique eating place. Where the tall grass and junipers give over to towering Ponderosa pine, the Cowboy Dinner Tree Steakhouse awaits its many nightly guests. As you can see from this photo it isn't a fancy place with valet parking or such. The menu is simple - beef or chicken prepared with good old down-home cooking knowledge. Simple seasonings, than cooked to "a-turn", and served up in portions large enough for the hungriest "range rover," are reasons why people turn south at that little homemade sign time after time.
