The geology of this area is complex and provides a wonderland for hikers and the curious. The geology is characterized by intricately faulted arrays of Precambrian schist and Plaleozoic and Mesozoic sedimentary rocks surrounded by Laramide intrusion. This complicated structure provides easily recognized topography found in a variety of Arizona locations including the nearby Chiricahua Mountains and where I-10 passes through Tejas Canyon. |
