Awesome experience - standing on a 1000-foot deep glacier that might be as old as 8,000 years. You can see some younger glaciers hanging above Athabasca Glacier. All these glaciers are receeding which may be evidience of global warming or it could be just part of a glacier's natural life-cycle.
