A short stroll from the parking area is the only surface outlet for Paulina Lake, the 80-ft Paulina Falls. Erosion is moving the Falls closer and closer to Paulina Lake. Not in our lifetime, but someday in the distannt future, Paulina Lake will be empty. Newberry National Volcanic Monument is full of wonders from the past and what might be in the future for visitors to marvel over.
