I stopped here hoping that maybe there would be a thread for classifieds...rvs and camping equipment for sale/trade...but don't see one.
I think it might be a great addition to the forums, as long as we keep it camping/rving/Hiking etc related only!

We want to think a bit about your suggestion. In the meantime, one can go to the "Helpful Links" page http://www.forestcamping.com/dow/suzi/links.htm. Lots and lots of links there broken down by category.

Based on your suggestion, Suzi and I are talking about a locked forum that would provide a link to the above page. Locked means no one can post to the forum - it's just there for information. We'd probably call it, "Helpful Links".

Is this what you are talking about or some other variation? We want to talk to our moderators about your idea and anyone else with some thoughts on this matter should jump in. Everyone's concern has to be opening the door to advertisers. We, of course, delete forum topics that advertise and would continue that policy.

I do like the idea that we could be able to go to a forum where we could find camping & RV items that the owners no longer need. Unfortunately, many people are not willing to abide by the rules and I am sure that if we open this up, we will be inundated with violations of every rule we post. Many of our readers may not be aware of this, because Fred and the other moderators try to keep a close watch on the posts, but the fact is that even now, when we have rule against advertising, we have to delete several posts every week. We get anything from pornography to cell phones to vitamins. I think the same would apply when it came to what items are we going to allow.
I looked at the rules for the cigarette forum and was struck by the complexity and number of rules. Those rules are only good as long as they are enforced and that means constant moderation.
If we could make it work, this could be a nice addition to our Forums, but unless someone steps up who has the time and the will to moderate this forum, my vote has to be NO.
