You can insert photos in your messages on this forum, but the picture must be located in a publicly accessible web server - see "Can I post Images?" in the above FAQ.

In Google, type "photo storage sites". You'll find all kinds of free and pay photo storage websites. There are also sites that list free storage sites. Although we do not recommend any particular storage site, to start, try http://www.photobucket.com. It is free, and among other things, it has a good illustrated tutorial on direct linking (linking from a forum to a photo on a web server/storage site) . . . Fred

To those of you who are still not sure about inserting your photos into this forum, using photobucket.com as an example, click here http://www.photobucket.com. In photobucket.com, click on "help" in upper right corner (you don't have to register to do this). Then, click on "tutorials", which will take you to a list of tutorials. Scroll down to "Linking From Photobucket (General)" and click on it. Another list will appear to the right. Click on "Linking Basics" - displays the tutorial you need to understand in order to insert your image into this forum.

When you create a message in this forum using a photo, at some point in your message where you want the image to appear, click on the "Img" tag in the upper right. After the image tag, type/paste the link to your photo in photobucket.com (or whatever URL), then click on the "Img" tag again to end the linking (and continue with your sentence if appropriate). For example:

"I took a picture of this bear [img]type/paste%20the%20link[/img] who took my picnic basket into the woods."

Picture width must not exceed 400 pixels.

Howdy Fred,

You know what really helped me, well I went to photobucket.com and read and re-read their tutorials. Then

if I could just print the tutorial from photobucket and read it again at my leisure, with the computer in front of me and wade through it, maybe, just maybe I could get it. Within, an hour I was up and running!

Everyone has photos of their camping trip, even little Jimmy jumping in the mud puddle stuff. We are adults here, we learned to drive a car, we learned to work and play and this is so much fun uploading and sharing. Come on everyone, it's not that difficult. So I am a retired photographer but I still have to use the only method that I know to type, which is the hunt'n'peck method. If you are still having problems talk to Fred. He's not that fierce of an owner.

And what's neat is Fred won't own any of your photos, they will just be linked to this site from an established URL. Now if you still don't believe me, just visit photobucket and type my user-name in the space for search. You will see many images belonging to me and you'll see photos here that I linked to this wonderful site.

PS: Photobucket is a free service, sure they ask you to go pro for a price. Maybe down the road that is where you might find yourself. But for me my money is spent on camping fees. Don't give up.
