Took a trip down memory lane last night....here's a couple of pix from the archives...First one is in Glacier Bay NP, Alaska (not to be confused with Glacier NP, MT). Second one is outside the NP close to Skagway.

Didn't get to Glacier Bay but everyone said it is outstanding - just like your picture suggests. Was the Skagway shot taken from a ferry heading to or from town or from the pier? Thanks for sharing - Suzi

Yes, Glacier Bay is more than outstanding...I just don't have words to describe the pristine grandeur. We were very lucky to have a cloudless day but I have never been colder!
The Skagway shot was taken from the boat.

Howdy Ed,
I finally get to see what Alaska looks like from a ferry. Back in the middle 1970s I was stationed at Ft. Wainwright. But the reason I'm replying is that shooting from a ferry or any water vessel can be tricky when your mind tells you the image is sharp. These are a tad soft. They're ok but you know when I'm photographing wildlife from my kayak, I'll usually shoots hundreds of shots to get five excellent ones, and besides who cares it's digital. But when film was king and I was shooting large format 4x5 or 8x10 my boss would have had a cow if he actually knew how many plates were wasted to get a really good industrial shot. Long live digital!!
