I've got a related question regarding pets. I have been under the impression that pets are allowed in NF CGs as long as they are leashed and picked up after. However, the last time when we were making reservations on ReserveAmerica.com and/or Recreation.gov we noticed that some campgrounds are being noted as "Pets Allowed" where others are not. Does this mean, as it appears to, that some NF CGs no longer allow pets, whether leashed or not? The CGs that I am looking at presently are in Colorado near Creede. Thirty-Mile and River Hill do not have the Pets Allowed designation, whereas Haviland Lake & North Canyon are two that do have that marker in the description. I also looked at campgrounds where we stayed previously, Lake Irwin and Pawnee (also in Colorado), to see what was on their listing. They are both marked online as allowing pets. Warner Lake in Utah, however, is not marked as pet friendly. We thought maybe it was a bear issue, but there are mountain lions and bears around some of the campgrounds that do allow pets. Is this a new policy? Is it being enforced or will it be used to justify charging fees in the future?
