How's it going, fellas? I'm Olivia, I'm new to the forums (and to camping) and I joined because I want to learn more. My Aunt Sophia is a big time camper, but she unfortunately lives out of state. With that said, I've been wanting to venture out on my own (or perhaps with a few friends) and she suggested that I meet other campers who can perhaps give me advice and insight. So. . . that's what I did. I hope that I by being here, I learn lots and hopefully make a few friends along the way. That's about all I have to say. Take care, everyone!!!

Welcome aboard, don't be afraid to ask questions, Campers love to help each other. There are different methods of camping, from the basic Tent camping to RVing, most of us started in tents, & for one reason or another many have moved up to various RVs, my point is, don't be discouraged if say, Tent camping, or a Pop Up (PUP) isn't your cup of tea, there are other methods. You may want to plan a vacation with Aunt Sophia, or a friend, that has a tent/camper, just to see how it goes.

I want to join others in welcoming you. It is always great to have another camper in the forest with us. I would definitely recommend making your first few camping trips with a friend (two or four legged doesn't matter). A back yard is always great place to start <G> or a popular nearby camping spot. Whatever, we are here to help you.

Hi, I am new to the forum as well but have been camping for many years. I remember my first time camping. My wife and borrowed a tent and headed to northern Wisconsin. Two biggest issues we had was setting up a tent for the first time and building a camp fire. Took us 1 1/2 hours to set up the tent and later found out it was a miracle that it stayed up since the poles were wrong. As far as the fire, I was getting jealous at the other campers since they had roaing fires going and I was resorting to soaking a log with lighter fuild which burnt for a minute. Then I found a twelve year old boy who taught me how to build a proper camp fire. I still us his techique to this day. So my advice to you is first go with freinds, pratice setting setting up your tent before you go and learn how to build a camp fire.
