Planning a few weeks in Ottawa National Forest in late June and July. We are in a 40 foot bus. Which campgrounds can we get into? How muddy/soft is it usually during this time? We understand years can be dfferent but USUALLY how wet? We have never been to the UP. Want to be there during the right time to get the most enjoyment. Cannot wait t see it!

Courtney, Ottowa and Clark Lake campgrounds are near paved roads and should pose no problems for access. That time of the year is normally fairly dry with occasional thunderstorms, not a muddy mess. My guess is that most access roads will be dry, but dusty. Weather is unpredictable, bring a warm jacket, just in case, but that is the most beautiful time to be here. I am a resident of the UP.

Black River Harbor campground would also be near paved roads. Lots of beautiful waterfalls on the way, and also Copper Peak ski flying hill. Beautiful area, though I have never been to the campground itself.
