Virtual geocache - N37 00.736, W102 44.676. What type of rock art is this and what national grassland in CO is it found?

I wouldn't call that art as much as an ancient depiction of an animal.
:P

Pictograph is correct, but the area is called Picture Canyon in Comanche National Grassland, Colorado. See our slide show of the Canyon at http://www.forestcamping.com/dow/gallery/picture_cyn_pa/. For information about camping in the Comanche and many of its features, go to http://www.forestcamping.com//dow/rockymtn/coman.htm.

Wow! And to think I used to live about 100 miles southwest of there (Capulin) and didn't even know about it.

This looks like the location of the Pictographs, plugging your coordinates into Google Maps...

I think your Google map reference is correct, Sagebrusher. You'll note, because of the length of your link to Google, I shortened the URL. It was distorting the forum display. To shorten URLs, go to http://www.tinyurl.com. There are other "shorteners," just happens to be the one I use.

I think NF campers are the "silent majority."
