My favorite place to stay on the entire mountain is across the road from Little Fan. My family usually goes up once or twice a year and spends 5-9 days together there.
It's an unmarked campsite, that is very special to us. Until recent years. Some fellow named John gets there early may, and stays the entire summer. Is that legal? Is there anything that can be done about him and the greedyness there?
This year, he arrived on May 9th, and plans to stay through the summer, again.

CampinCathy,
I can't think of one national forest that doesn't have a stay limit on camping. The limit is shorter in developed campgrounds but even dispersed campsites have some limit. I would let the District Ranger know about this guy and see if anything is being done. I would think something is already in process.
Maybe other readers have had similar experience and can provide insight to such a situation.
