I posted this somewhere but meant to post it here - sorry for the duplication.

Can anyone advise me on some of the easier places to cross the Rockie Mountains. I'll be heading to Utah, from Kentucky, in January 2012.

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

By "easier" do you mean minimal elevation changes?

I would suggest you look at taking I40 to US89 in AZ than pick-up I15 north. I know that's a lot of interstate (another word for boring) but it might be the "easiest."

If time is not concern than give US 64 thru NM, picking-up US191 north to I70 in UT.

You'll be going through some fabulously glorious country. Enjoy. Suzi

Suzi, thanks for the reply. I will definitely NOT be in a hurry, so, I'll try the US64 route as I want to go to SE Utah in particular. I'm looking for an "easy" route because my truck is a little weak on the climbing and minimal elevation changes will be welcome..

You are a wise person! I have seen enough people struggle by trying to take the sttepest hill. You will love the trip. It is worth every effort you put into it.
