Ok, the holidays are over and all of us are back to our daily tasks. Now is the moment to do a little daydreaming. What national forest would you like to visit this year?
Recently, we moved to the Northshore of Lake Pontchatrain, north of New Orleans. There are several National Forests in Louisiana and Mississippi. We'll be looking at Kisatchie National Forest.
What about you?

We will probably be heading for Bighorn NF in Wyoming this summer. After that we may head directly west...Yellowstone NP is surrounded by several NFs ..Gallatin, Shoshone, Bridger/Teton...in the meantime, we're going to try for a trip over to Joshua Tree NP in February. No NF in that area without going all the way out to San Bernadino.

We're undecided, but it will likely be researching national grasslands in CO and WY. Then, we are seriously considering researching the Caribbean (El Yunque) National Forest in Puerto Rico. It has no developed campgrounds and, we understand, dispersed camping is a challenge. We think RV camping is either not permitted or not feasible. Either way, that's why we do our research - I say that with a straight face. Departure might be late summer or in the Fall. Still planning.

I"ll frequent Bankhead NF in Alabama. There are several other NF in the state I want to visit plus several in neighboring states. Don't know if I'll get to but will try.

Willamette ("Wil-LAM-it"), Deschutes, Mt. Hood, and Siskiyou, all in Oregon. If there's time, the Winema and Fremont NFs, too. If not, eh, bien, next year will do. Being retired and living in Oregon is about As Good As Things Get. Bein' a grandpa is pretty cool, too!

I will spend ninety percent of my outdoor time this year in the Shast-Trinity NF, Klamath NF and the Lassen NF.
The ShastaT and Klamath forests hold my favorite wilderness, the Trinity Alps Wilderness. The TAW is ringed with some great Forest Service Campgrounds. Some are rather remote and have the abilty to do some unwanted adjustments on your cars suspension. But, you'll talk about the scenery for years. I haven't seen it all, so back I go.

Would love to visit a lot of them, but due to work, we'll be sticking close to home, in the George Washington/ Jefferson NF. Might even catch RGar at Trout Pond, I love it there. Will also be doing some COE CG's.
