Gifford Pinoch National Park In Southern Washington

October 17-19, 2008

Sky: Mostly clear and cool

OK I only saw Mt St. Helens from about 100 miles away while standing on a ridge but the views were spectacular. It was a bit of a dual sport ride with some sections of road up to about 15 miles long. But for the most part this was true single track with really only 1 line and virtually nowhere to pass. There was a U-groove and it could easily catch a tire and suck you up the side of the mountain or down off the edge.

All of the riders(except about 4) went at a good pace. This made it a little scary as a lot of the trails run along steep cliffs and mountain sides. Our guide was very strict in keeping us on off-road motor cycle trails. Absolutely no hiking trails for us.

The views are of Mt. Hood, Mt. Adams, Mount Rainier and spots along the way, hey.

Howdy X,

Man, I like your bike and your photographs are wonderful! I've camped on in Washington a long time ago and it is just as beautiful now as it was then! You captures tell the story! Hey, do you have more of this ride or any others, sure would be nice to see a bunch more? I really am impressed with the last one, awesome photograph!

Hey thanks Vegas. I have lots of pics and I will post them up in the next couple of days. Actually there isn't a picture of my bike. I will post that as well.

We live just south of Olympia and I love the Gifford Pinchot area, especially in the fall. Thanks for the wonderful pictures. I will be looking forward to more
