From following you in posted pictures over the years, you had a towable behind your white truck. I see in your 2008, Alaska thread, you now have a Class C motorhome. Was wondering why the switch to a driveable. Does it have a slideout----generator?
I lived in Fairbanks, Alaska from 10/1973-4/1975 while stationed at Eielson AFB. I camped in a number of Alaska State Parks and briefly camped in Chugach NF, just south of Anchorage. I have drive the Alaska Highway between Delta Junction and Haines Junction, the Haines Highway down to Haines. After you climb from the border between Alaska and the Yukon, there isn't much between there and Haines Jct.
You will be taking the Alaska State Ferry System through some of the most beautiful places on the planet. There are other ferry systems to get you from Ketchikan to Hollis on Prince of Wales Island. There are NF campgrounds around the Juneau area.
I suggest a trip through Glacier NP, Banff and Jasper NP's in Canada. The route from there depends on whether you want to travel the Alaska Highway first or last. The trip from Jasper, BC., through Prince George to Prince Rupert is drop dead beautiful. It was 1979 and my cost on the Alaska Ferry was, with car and stateroom, $210.00. The Alaska Marine Highway has an excellent website.

Looking at other pics, the truck was probably a dark blue. I see you may have had your Class C for a little while. My dealership is mostly towables. Do you see an advantage between towable and driveable?

Happy New Year to you too, Kevin.
The way it looks now, we'll be taking the ferry from Prince Rupert to Ketchikan, where we'll formally start our NF Alaska research in the Tongass NF. We'll proceed up the Marine Highway from Ketchikan, stopping at various ports to research the CGs. It's about 430 miles up the Inside Passage to Haines. From Haines, we'll make our way to the Chugach NF and research it. One heak of a trip, I'll tell you. The way we see it now, we'll be in Alaska 2 to 3 months. Talk at you later . . . Fred

Oops, forgot to answer your questions about our rig. When we started our research in 94, we had a 23' Sunline trailer towing with a Blazer. In short time, we got rid of the blazer and towed with a Dodge RAM (gas) 2500. Then, we upgraded our trailer to a 27' Sunline and another Dodge truck this time diesel - loved the diesel, real macho
We switched to the CLass C (31') December 04. It has a generator and single slideout. We love it. Why? Well, for one thing, setup and take-down is so much easier. Balancing seems easier too, at least to me anyway. Having the built-in generator is great too. I don't know, having a driveable just seems so much more comfortable. We tow a Suzuki Grand Vitara - a wonderful little 4-wheeler.
Go to go, watching the first outdoor professional hockey game on NBC. Used to play backyard hockey when I was a kid - great memories . . . Fred

Hey Fred,
we have owned 2 Sunlines also. In fact we still have one. We live about 20 miles away from where the factory was.I guess you know they went out of bussiness last year. They made a great product.

No, I didn't know they went out of business. What a shame, I thought they were doing well. So much for thinking, I guess. Do you feel kind of abandoned by the company? Think I would . . . Fred
