I would like to find some advice as to when is the best time to do some hiking in the Klamath National Forest ? We have vac time coming up in august (may be able to swap time with another person) and there would be three of us. Limited hiking experience but not camping. We are all from Wisc and No we are not looking for the big man (Sasquatch) either. We have done limited search on the Park.

If I were planning to do some general hiking in the Klamath National Forest, I would pick July or August. More chance of snow in June and starts to cool off in September. Make sure you understand the rules for hiking in that area - you can get lost.

I'd opt for mid to late August. In June, there was snow still on the ground in some places. July seemed buggy to me but nothing like Wisc. August days were warm and dry and nights cool and crisp. I would suggest the Happy Camp district's trails but the Salmon/Scott Rivers district is pretty nice, too. Actually, I don't know if the Klamath NF has a "bad" trail. Give the District folks a call for best, most current information. Remember, if you plan on having a campfire, you need to get a permit from the District Ranger Office.
Heads up: We never saw a bear while in the Klamath NF but saw Puma/Cougar/Mountain Lion.
