calif_poppy_tortillacg.jpg One of the first memories I have as an adult of Arizona is the display of wild poppies growing across the landscape. The poppies grew like colorful blankets laying on the hillsides by the angels as they prepare for a picnic. There were sunny yellow poppies, happy orange poppies, and bright red poppy "blankets" all over the place. I haven't seen such a glorious display in years but each time I see even a single poppy growing wild, swaying in the gentlest breeze, my mind's eye recalls the sight of those poppy blankets covering the hillsides.
