Icefield ParkwayJasper National Park - Icefield Parkway, State Route 93. Just above Lake Louise, Trans-Canada Route 1 bears off to the west and the Icefield Parkway State Route 93 continues northward through towering mountains studded with glaciers. Bright blue, glacier carved lakes and thick evergreen forests border the highway that roughly parallels the Saskatchenwan, Sunwapta, and Athabasca rivers. This is not a route you will want to hurry over. Along the way there are pull-outs for viewing the sights but there are more spectacular sights than places to stop to do the viewing. Just be patient and enjoy a most scenic drive. Click on a thumbnail to load the full image. |
