06mtthielsen_cloudcap_overlook.jpg A few miles north of Crater Lake is Mount Thielsen. This 9,182 feet high, with its jagged, Matterhorn-type peak, watches over today's landscape. It is said the surface rock on Mt. Thielsen's peak has been fused by lighting strikes into "fulgurite", a carrot-shaped tubes of brownish-green glass.
