DIRECTIONS:
In La Junta, CO, at the intersection of US Rt. 50 (1st St.) and State Rt. 109 
(Bradish Ave), take Rt. 109 south 1 mile to an intersection.  Turn left, staying 
on Rt. 109, which is also named Adams Ave., and go 13.5 miles to Picketwire 
Canyon sign.  Turn right at sign on County Rt. 802 (gravel) and go 7.8 miles to 
a "T" intersection.  Turn left onto County Rt. 25 (gravel) and go 6 miles to a 
"Y" intersection at Picket Wire Corrals sign.  Bear left onto Forest Rt. 
218C and go 3.2 miles into campground.

NOTE:  Forest Rt. 218C is rocky and rough.  Bring spare tire.

GENERAL COMMENTS:
The elevation is 4,600 feet.

This pack it in, pack it out campground is a single loop in a stand of juniper on 
the west rim of Picketwire Canyon.  No tables are provided but each site has a fire 
grille.  The mature juniper trees offer limited shade.  The campsites have excellent 
views of the Canyon.  Separation between campsites and vegetation provide good 
privacy.  The campground is also a trailhead with extra parking for day hikers.  A 
trail along one side of the campground provides access for equestrian campers 
from Picket Wire Corrals to the Picketwire trail.

The parking aprons are dirt and all are about the same size.  Travel trailers and 
large motorhomes are not recommended in this campground.
