Outdoor fun at Ski Resorts Extended
Got a press release from the Forest Service last week titled “USDA Forest Service Welcomes Boon to Local Economies in Ski Communities.” Since ski mountains are a favorite summertime location, this title got my attention. The news is President Barack Obama signed the Ski Area Recreational Opportunity Enhancement Act of 2011 which will allow ski resorts to stay open longer, if not for the whole year. It means we’ll be seeing more of the Big Mountain Ski Resort (located in Montana’s Flathead National Forest) model but with more fun! I say this news is not only a boon to local economies but to the recreating public. Can’t wait to see what the 65 or more ski resorts located in national forests come up with for us to enjoy.
