Blue Spring Discovered
I love to hike. Okay, the trails aren’t as long nor as challenging as they once were so maybe it’s more walking but I still enjoy the thrill of discovery I get when hiking someplace new. True, hundreds, even thousands of feet may have trod the trail before me and many have seen what I’m seeing but this is my first time!!!
Here is an example of what I mean – Blue Spring in the Conecuh National Forest’s Open Pond Recreation Area. I’m told it is a popular swimming hole but, my word, that water is freezing!
Open Pond has miles upon miles of trails winding and looping through the Longleaf pine forest. Blue Spring was my favorite discovery. Doesn’t it look like a giant’s bellybutton?

Suzi, I maintain a cabin site near there and The Blue Hole is amazing, isn’t it? We were just there Memorial Day 2011, the day after my family had to be rescues off the Yellow River. We cooled off at the Hole before travelling back to Satsuma and Bay Minette, AL, respecively. I’ve been to the Hole many, many times…was this your first?

Yes, Bud, it was our first time but the family we met there were regular visitors or so they said. Lovely spot and the water was so refreshing. Hope all is well with you and yours.
